Apparently, Derpy was edited in the iTunes copies of The Last Round-Up. Her eyes are edited in half of the shots (the vertical squint is still visible in far shots) and her voice has been redubbed with a more feminine one. Rainbow’s voice has also been redubbed to not call her Derpy and to use a more worried tone.

This episode just got raped because of a few stupid trolls. It’s South Park’s 201 all over again, but for even even dumber, and vastly more unacceptable reasoning.

This…is a goddamn outrage. The new voice doesn’t sound BAD as such, but the very idea that they felt it needed to be changed, because it was ‘offensive’, sickens me.

But even that PALES to the fact that the changed her name. It…urgh. I actually want to throw up. Hasbro…words cannot express my disappointment.

Naming and shaming you from the Equestria Daily article.

If you thought Derpy’s presentation as a two-minute plot-irrelevant comedy sideshow was offensive, then apparently you’re not part of the Friendship is Magic fandom. You were a troll out to ruin everybody else’s fun.

Yes, so all those social workers, teachers, parents, everybody with disabilities who was offended by the way Derpy was portrayed, you’ve apparently screwed it up for everybody else for reasons that aren’t real. Yeah, making fun of disability? That’s not a reason to complain.

In fact, read one of the comments further up. If you’re a minority, you’re not allowed to have anything made fair, because that’s pandering.

Remember, Hasbro is being brave by offending you. Apple is being cowardly by making a stand for you.

Remember, this is the same fanbase who turned Derpy into a hard-working mother trying to get around her disabilities, being silly and not slapstick, and having other characters react appropriately with her and make space for her problems.

(My only concern with the new version is that Derpy’s redubbed voice isn’t putting very much into the performance. My concern with the fanbase extends to their hypocrisy at, among the things mentioned above, now complaining at Rainbow having a more concerned tone about others and not being a jerk, which they were previously annoyed by.)

I’ve been looking for this clip!! I really like the changes; they might be a bit heavy-handed, but overall I find ‘Derpy’ much more likeable and less of a sort of punching bag of offensiveness…The changes weren’t so extreme as to lose the quality of character; she’s still goofy but in a MUCH less offensive way.
